App Permissions

SafeCamp asks only for what it needs to keep you and your people safe. Here is exactly what each permission is used for.

Last updated: October 2026

Location — While Using the App

Used to place you on the map, show your Circle where you are (only where you allow), and to send help to the right place when you trigger an SOS.

Location — Always (Background)

Used only while a Companion Walk or scheduled check-in is active, so your trusted Circle can follow your journey and so an SOS can be sent to the correct place even when your phone is locked or the app isn't open. Background location is not collected at other times.

Camera

Used to document incidents (photos/video you choose to attach) and, only if you opt in during an SOS, to broadcast live video to your emergency Circles.

Microphone

Used to record emergency audio during an active SOS so there is a record of what happened. Recording starts only when you raise an SOS and stops when it ends.

Photos

Used to attach evidence you select to an incident report. SafeCamp does not scan or upload your photo library.

Notifications

Used to deliver SOS alerts, scheduled check-in reminders, and important Circle activity.

How to change or revoke permissions

You can change any permission at any time in your device's Settings → SafeCamp. Note that disabling Location or Notifications may prevent SOS, Companion Walks, and check-ins from working fully.
